Scandal Concerning Fr. Patrick McCabe of Ireland
There has been a recent flurry of articles throughout the world concerning Fr. Patrick McCabe of Ireland, who has been mentioned as a sex offender with multiple accusations in the widely recognized Irish Judges “Murphy Report”. Fr. McCabe, like many other clergy serial molesters, was transferred to the USA from Ireland in 1982, and was sent to rehab at the Servants of the Paraclete in New Mexico. After his so called “treatment” he was sent to Eureka, California, to St. Bernards Church. The transfer of a serial pedophile to a small town church in a remote area by the Catholic Church hierarchy seems typical, and the code of silence shared by the Church hierarchy of the Diocese of Santa Rosa and the clergy involved at McCabes placement at the church location in Eureka, is no surprise. What is more disturbing about the transfer of this sociopathic serial molester is the statements made recently by Monsignor Gerard Brady, who allowed McCabe to be in ministry at St. Bernards in Eureka. Monsignor Brady had the audacity to recently state to the press that he “would not have accepted McCabe as an Associate Pastor had he had known about the allegations.” Apparently Monsignor Brady would have the public believe that receiving the placement of a priest who was transferred from a rehab center for priests with sex abuse problems is not considered knowledge of any potential threat to children. If Monsignor Brady was that concerned about the safety of children, as he would have you assume, then what did Brady do to stop McCabe from being placed at St. Elizabeth’s in Guerneville, California, after an allegation of abuse occurred at St. Bernard’s? This appears to be proof of Monsignor Brady’s disingenuous statements. The enabling of predators by claims of supposed blindness by church officials has become so common that the accumulated disgrace is only outweighed by their insurmountable lack of credibility. An additional disgrace is the timing of the McCabe transfers to different churches in California. At the same time in the early 1980s’, the head of the Congregation of the Doctrine of the Faith, the office in charge of the discipline of sexual predator Priests, was none other than Cardinal Ratzinger. Ratzinger gave Fr. Stephen Kiesle, another known serial molester, the green light to work in Pinole, California at virtually the exact same time. It is likely that Ratzinger had known about the transfer of McCabe to California from Ireland, and also given him the green light to minister in California as the continued accusations kept stacking up against the child abuser. As expected, after the Eureka newspaper printed the story of the Fr. McCabe scandal, victims of abuse in Eureka by the poisonous cleric started to call my phone. And as McCabe faces extradition charges to return to Ireland to face justice, his trail of abused children will slowly continue to come out of the woodwork, and as usual, the aftermath of the Catholic Clergy abuses and cover-ups have no known end in sight.
