Forty-two years ago this month, the legendary guitarist Jimi Hendrix mesmerized a crowd of devoted and hypnotized fans, at the Berkeley Community Theater in California, on May 30th, 1970. I was one of those fortunate spectators in attendance that evening, and his performance changed my perspective of not only music and culture; but it corrected my confused spirituality as well.
His lyrics to his last title performed that evening are fittingly dauntless:
“If I don’t see you no more in this world, I’ll meet you in the next one, and don’t be late”.
He was born in Seattle, Washington in 1942, and named Johnny Allen Hendrix, a name I was not familiar with at the time. I also did not know I was attending his last performance in California; he died unexpectedly in London three and a half months later.
The astonishing truth about Hendrix was that he was left-handed, and at an early age he acquired a right handed guitar; and taught himself to play the guitar upside down- and backwards. This astounding capability led way to the capturing of a distortion of sound effects that were manipulated by the unequaled artist; light years ahead of his peers, and able to seduce the observer into a spellbinding trance. Jimi ultimately perfected this exceptional gift into an ostentatious result that was unprecedented in the music industry.
I was 15 years old when I witnessed the art and passion of the greatest guitarist of all time; and I have never been able to replace that experience with a comparable appreciation of surrealistic musical talent – and I don’t think I ever will.
Perhaps it was a fusion of my adolescent craving for a purpose as a survivor of clergy abuse – and my intrinsic hope for an escape to a spiritual world of grandeur. Whatever the reason, or the psychological diagnoses; I was transcended magically into a world of euphoria, intoxicated by the genius who used his guitar to propel me into the atmosphere.
Illusion or not, it makes no difference; for some of us, our memories as adults defy time when we are able to recall those moments in youth when we discover that music is able to define our perception of emotional significance. When fascination and excitement oscillate with our five senses; we can relive those experiences when we are able to fall into the bliss of hypnotic sight and sound; and the medium – the artist who controls us – enables us to enter another dimension.
Jim Hendrix was that medium for me, and when I step into yesterday, whether in a dream, or in a recollection; I am able to leave this planet with ease, and set aside all the earthly concerns that bind me. His tragic departure from this earth, like many eccentric iconic musicians before and after him – still confuses me. But it also lends credence to the testament that those who have impacted art and culture in our society the most – are rarely forgotten. As linear time passes, those treasured icons still have the capability of consuming our hearts and souls relentlessly. They eerily possess us with the bittersweet desire to turn back the clock, prompting the realization that life is temporary – and prove that the dissolving key to the escape of mortality may very well be hidden in the memories of youth that we cling to.
Jimi ended his concert with the tantalizing creation of a haunting melodious ecstasy – “Voodoo Child”; and a part of me hasn’t left the Berkeley Community Theater since that night in 1970.
Nor do I wish it to.
The key to my survival as an abused teen was the ability to travel with Hendrix into the future, away from the claws of anxiety and pain, and into a safe world of music and fantasy; arguably a psychologically elusive voyage- but a successfully deserved one.
And now that forty-two years have passed, I realize that undefined time travel may be sporadically and conveniently insignificant; and that memories and early perceptions can be beautifully altered as an eternal self-medication. I believe that Jimi Hendrix may well have been the prescription for others like myself – people who can drift away into a sanctuary of musical enlightenment; and escape the demons who are unable to disappear into that magical safe place in the atmosphere in harmful pursuit.
I can’t count how many times I escaped the predatory world that surrounded me in the past; I can only say that the marriage of music and memory are insurmountable – and I survived the injustices that fate had dealt me, without fully understanding the complexity of the nature of the source as a child. And as a survivor, I will always carry that appreciation with me; resulting in a spirituality that was born from a sacred and enchanted musical sound.
I will say thank you forever, but I won’t say “Goodbye Jimi Hendrix” – because you’ve never left me.

We would like to thank all the Catholic Institutions who paid for this independent non-biased study by pouring money into our bank accounts, buying us gifts, contributing to our needs, hiring us to write books, and padding our trust funds. – The JJ Club.

The Causes and Context of the Almost Unheard of – Sexual Abuse of Minors- By Innocent Holy Priests Who Are Always Falsely Accused
Acknowledging the Generous Catholic Bishops Who Bought Us

This is a neutral report, and is not influenced in any way by the vast amount of money dumped on us by Catholic Bishops. Those bishops, we should mention, have never shuffled or protected any clergy abusers. And all of the supposed clergy victims who were claiming to be molested, that we investigated – were found to be liars.
Nevertheless, we did this study, and it was extremely difficult to find any Catholic priests who were actually pedophiles. Nearly every priest that we asked, “Are you a pedophile?”, said “No”.
Our study showed that most priests are “situational generalists”, which could mean a lot of things. Although we generally use that situational term for situations that are general, it is generally a situational and convenient general term to situationally confuse parents and victims advocates, generally, because we are doctors with PhD’s, and most of the subservient naive public can’t hold up to our intellectual level. So generally the situation was caused by situational generalists.
Usually we found that most priests who were accused of sex abuse were set up by vindictive boys who had disturbed criminal minds; and concocted stories to gain money from the innocent clergy.
Nearly every bishop that was accused of having knowledge of sexually abusive clergy was also being wrongfully taken advantage of by slick lawyers; and our survey found that the real victims in the crisis were actually the priests and hierarchy of the church. Most of these priests and bishops are expected to become saints, and nearly all of them are martyrs for God.

    Methodology

The research group could not find any reason a Catholic priest would violate a child. It was difficult to find any accuser who was honest, and the only honest people we interviewed were holy priests. Our conclusion was that nearly all children will lie about sexual abuse to gain attention.

    Findings

No single cause was found for a priest to sexually abuse minors, because priests have taken a vow of celibacy; and that was substantial proof that they had no reason to abuse kids.

    Individual Psychological Factors

Less than 1 percent of priests are pedophiles, so it is inaccurate to refer to priests as pedophiles.
Priests accused of pedophilia are most probably innocent.
The majority of priests sent to treatment facilities the catholic church has all over the country, were sent there for no reason. And most of the facilities are empty of course; because there are practically no pedophiles at all in the church.
Any priest who admitted to having a sexual relationship with a child was found to be mistaken; or forced to do so against his will.
Most children are prone to picking on clergy because they are rotten children , and predominantly immature brats.

    Summary

It is wise to tell children who claim they have been abused to shut up, because they may damage the reputation of an exemplary priest.

    Understanding Sex Abuse in Society

Our study found that most abusers in society are actually pregnant moms in their last trimester, girl scouts, white heterosexual male astronauts, and blind people over the age of 95. Other abusers are most likely lawyers who represent false accusers of clergy, bunny rabbits, and female red cross workers in third world countries. It is highly unlikely that a priest would fit into any of these categories.

Understanding Sex Abuse in Religious Institutions

Our study found that it is extremely difficult to even imagine one single instance of sexual abuse in a religious institution, and we were baffled as to why anyone on earth could think of such a preposterous thing like that.

    Understanding Sex Abuse in Families

Most families are guilty of teaching their children to target innocent priests, so the real causation of sex abuse claims are most likely to occur in families. It is best to put the blame on parents when a clergy abuse claim is made against an unsuspecting priest.

Why is There a Sexual Abuse Problem in the Catholic Church?

The reason there is a sexual abuse problem in the catholic church is mostly because of the media hysteria. The media invents stories of priest abuse for sensationalism. Sick people who are not clergy then pick up on this hysteria, and then fabricate stories of sexual abuse that never happened. The other reason is monetary gain by children who are obsessed with material wealth.

    Incidences of Abuse Claims

Although more than 99% of abuse claims are obviously false claims by people who hate the church, and are most probably sick atheists, disturbed kids, and older men who are criminals. But there have been some isolated claims reported through the years anyway.
Our best estimate for real claims is:
1950’s – 2 claims
1960’s – 2 claims
1970’s – 3 claims
1980’s – 1 claim
1990’s – 1 claim
2000’s – 0 claims.
Most claims we investigated were found to be against priests who never even existed, or were dead over a hundred years ago. The solution to the problem is to have church lawyers sue any alleged victim, and take action against the accusers families, who are most probably instigating the false accusations.

    Graphs

If there was a graph on this page, that graph would clearly show that all people who accuse clergy of abuse are delusional liars.

    Homosexuality

Our team has discovered that most homosexuals are probably the cause of a great deal of false accusations against priests; and also the cause of most problems on earth. Accusers usually take out their sexual frustrations on defensless priests, because priests are easy targets. This must be caused by homosexuals, in one way or another. Homosexuals should not be allowed to vote, or work anywhere, they should be jailed.

    Conclusion

It is going to be difficult to eradicate the cause of the clergy abuse crisis, as kids are becoming more sophisticated with computers and I-phones, etc. The technology of today has enabled vindictive greedy kids to learn how to create false stories, and false memories, and to prey on innocent clergy of the holy church. Detestable children should be kept under supervision, and away from harming vulnerable priests. Because priests are so vulnerable, and god-like, they are more prone to being victimized by evil children, and their greedy lawyers, and wicked parents.
The statute of limitations for clergy abuse claims should be changed to one week, and the penalty for filing false claims should be substantial. Almost all accusations against priests are false, and all documents that supposedly prove priests and bishops have been involved in pedophelia, are fabricated by frauds. Laws have to be enacted to protect priests, bishops and cardinals, and the hierarchy of the church should be made immune to prosecution in every country.
This concludes the non-biased independent John Jay Report on clergy child abuse-which does not really exist; and never did.

On May 11th, 2012, the University of Santa Clara, California, sponsored a conference called
“Sexual Abuse in the Catholic Church- A Decade of Crisis, 2002 – 2012.”
This is also the name of a new book, which was hosted by Thomas Plante, PhD, and Kathleen McChesney, PhD. The book features chapters of literary contributions by 20 experts on clergy sexual abuse: psychologists, professors of law, priests, judges, sociologists, judges, etc.
Among the speakers of the conference were: Thomas Plante-PhD, Kathleen McChesney-PhD, Thomas Reese-SJ priest, Karen Terry-PhD-(John Jay College Report), Barbara Blaine-founder of SNAP, Judge Terrence Carroll-Seattle School of Law, Rev. Gerald Coleman-PhD, Rev. Thomas Doyle-J.C.D-canon lawyer-expert witness, Rev. Paul Macke-SJ, Gerard McGlone-PhD-St. John Vianney treatment center, Judge Michael Merz-USCCB review board, Anson Shupe-PhD-Professor of Sociology, A.W. Sipe-author and expert on Catholic priest issues, and Rev. Richard Vega-Pres. National Fed of Presb Councils-priest.
The conference was open to the public (for a $100 ticket,) and there were approximately about 150 people in attendance. The conference began at 9 A.M. and lasted until 4:30 P.M.
I was an attendee; and I am a clergy abuse victim. I am arguably a “biased” writer, and a controversial and vocal victim’s advocate, and a successful jury trial plaintiff against the church. I have fought clergy abuse in the Roman catholic church for a decade.
This is my rendition of the conference, the authors, and the speakers of the event; who are also the contributors to the new book.
The title of my article already establishes my preliminary opinion-that the abuse crisis in the Catholic Church is at least 1000 years old, and the “Decade of Crisis”, mentioned at the conference, and on the book cover- is implausible at best. Ten years of crisis is a gross understatement.
The first speaker at the conference, Fr. Thomas Reese, was right on target. Reese intellectually, factually and without reservation- exposed the crisis in the church as un-credible, unaccountable, and
and scandalous.
Among Reese’s’ quotes:
“The investigative process(in the church) appears suspect because it is under control of the bishop. Episcopal credibility is nil.”
“We do not have a system for bringing bishops to account.”
“The church would be in a much better place today if 30 or more bishops had stood up, acknowledged their mistakes, taken full responsibility, and resigned.”
“The Vatican also needs to do its job. It appears to have no problem investigating nuns and
theologians, but investigating mismanagement by a bishop is not a priority.”

“Creative theologians are attacked, sisters are investigated, Catholic publications are censored and loyalty is the most important virtue. These actions are defended by the hierarchy because of fears of ’scandalizing the faithful’, when in fact it is the hierarchy who have scandalized the faithful.”
“Speaking truth to power is not welcomed in the Catholic Church.”
Fr. Reese’s speech is available online, and was a very commendable and candid rendition of the conduct of the Catholic Church, by a clergy member. My speculation is that he will be reprimanded for his honesty, integrity, and “speaking truth to power.”
The most powerful speech however, heard and seen through my own eyes as a victim of clergy abuse- was that of Rev. Thomas Doyle. Fr. Tom Doyle was the Catholic cleric who blew the whistle on the conduct of the sex abuse crisis and the involvement of the hierarchy several decades ago; a revelation that was basically ignored by that same archaic hierarchy.
His speech at the conference was exemplary; including his advocation of victims of abuse, his insights of the criminal conduct of the corruption of the hierarchy, and his testaments to the deleterious behavior and ignorance of the church in correcting itself. He was truly mesmerizing.
I am in awe at his ability to capture the very essence of the core of religious corruption; converting it to a very human perception. His insights into the blending of the audacity of the systematic criminal violation of children by clergy, combined with an intellectual comprehension of the effects of a collaborating unchecked institution- reveals the extensive magnitude of the church’s continued debauchery.
His speech was the cream on top of the introductory delivery by Fr. Reese, and an insurmountable creation of undaunted realization-spoken as though he had captivated the intrinsic frustration of the silent majority of damaged clergy abuse victims and catapulted their frustration into the face of the oppressive power of indestructible evil.
Barbara Blaine of SNAP- The Survivors Network of those Abused by Priests, was emotional, and she pleaded for accountability, and encouraged more victims to come out and speak courageously, and was conveniently placed on a panel between two opposing clergy at her sides. Nevertheless, she was strong and convincing, and drove her point across relentlessly. She was, as is usual, an outspoken voice for abuse victims that was capable of touching even some of the coldest hearts in the room.
A.W. Sipe continued the expose’ of the intentional condoning and remorseless conduct by the infamous hierarchy, and repeated quotes from his book and speech given to the blind eyes and deaf ears of the church from several decades ago as well. Sadly, his warnings long ago went ignored also; and his documents that were read to the conference revealed that the church has learned little or nothing concerning corrections of it’s incomparable ignorance and misguided actions.
Anson Shupe, professor of sociology, author, and a professed non-catholic, delivered a short but sharp critical opinion as a sociologist- that the antiquated catholic institution basically can not be repaired. He based his theory on historical sociological comparison, and was accurate, direct and credible in his approach and conclusion.
The real disappointment of the conference- and a very misleading and hazardous one at that, was the speech and presentation by Karen J. Terry, PhD- professor at John Jay College of Criminal Justice.
Dr. Terry herself, is a very presentable and credible appearing speaker, who had charts, data, and a wide screen assemblage for all to see, and was very articulate, and professional in her delivery.
And that is the very reason her “John Jay Study on Clergy Abuse” is so poisonous and misleading. It also presents a false sense of security for those who depend on it for accuracy; and it’s existence is held as a source for evidence that the church has improved on it’s behavior – and the “crisis” is nearly over.
Many of the “church owned” professional speakers at the conference quoted this supposed independent investigatory John Jay Report as “science and fact”; when I believe it is a tweaked report that is biased, and misguided- and financed by the church itself.
Dr. Terry gave her presentation without a stumble or flinch, and revealed important aspects of the extended research and investigation report, and was then asked to answer questions by the audience.
The audience was to write their questions on a 3 by 5 card, which was conveniently collected by Dr. Plante, a contributor to the John Jay Report on Clergy Abuse, for the speaker to answer.
Dr. Plante screened the questions for most of the speakers before he asked them to answer the questions, and needless to say, most of my question cards were omitted.
I intentionally walked up to the speaker’s desk and handed Dr. Terry my question card, to blatantly show the crowd that my question would probably not be answered. And my suspicion was correct, she did not read or answer my question out loud to the audience.
The question on my card was:
“I was molested by a priest when I was 13, and underdeveloped, does this mean I was raped by a molester, or was I raped by a “situational generalist?”
The reason for this question was that Dr. Terry, and the ingenious group of PhD’s and clergy treatment centers and specialists, refer kindly to molesters who molest post-pubescent males as “situational generalists”, instead of molesters or rapists; which I feel is a white washing of the criminal nature of the violation, and a predator-friendly term to downplay the crime.
Dr. Terry explained that the predominant amount of clergy abuse claims were for abuses that occurred in 1994, and in 2002, and were mostly claims that were old, made against priests who were ordained in the 1940’s and 1950’s. She also claimed that the professionals at John Jay College found that there were only about 4% of priests that were reported to be abusers.
This number ironically, and comically in my opinion, was derived from questionnaires that were sent to the Catholic Dioceses. Imagine that. And this figure, that was supplied to the PhD’s and professional criminologists at the world famous college, was given back to them by the dioceses; many of which were sued for sex abuse coverups and crimes against countless children – most of which habitually denied credible claims of abuse brought by victims.
It does not take a college educated PhD to figure out that these diocesan sources of mass criminal activity would probably not give an accurate number of abuse cases or number of clergy abusers to the John Jay criminology study….DUH.
After Dr. Terry had completed her speech, approximately ten minutes later during break, she approached me to privately answer my question. Dr. Terry told me that she could not answer my question as to whether the molester who raped me was a pedophile or not, because she did “not know what the intention of the priest was”. She further explained that this was because:
“there is a different treatment for an abuser who molests a prepubescent, as compared to a molester who is a “situational generalist”.
This is typical of institutions hired by the church, there is little or no sympathy for victims, which has has a negative effect on attendance at churches globally. They still don’t get it.
This is also a testament to the absence of care for the trauma that was caused to abuse victims, and the value placed on the souls and lives of the victims; which is apparently almost non-existent.
Not only did her answer support my conviction that the criminologists who worked on this so called independent report whitewash the sick clerical rapists categorical name and their related crime down, but it insensitively insulted the victim. And I told her so.
She repeated herself when I said this, and I responded that in addition that “the 4% figure of abusive priests” is grossly false and biased, obviously because of the source, and she appeared to become increasingly angry. She did however, admit that “sex abuse of minors is agreeably under-reported”; which supported my claim that the study is flawed and inaccurate.
So why is the John Jay Report, and the professional clergy who quote it constantly, continuing to pull the wool over peoples eyes?
Because they can. It’s that magical three letters after the speakers names; P, H, and D.
As far as most of the other speakers at the convention are concerned, I will say that many of their speeches were blanket fluff, and filler; and very suspect because Thomas Plante and Kathleen McChesney and company have a conflict-and a duplicitous role in my opinion. They are paid by the Jesuits, and/or the church, and I do not believe they can be true representers of truth, clergy abuse victims, and the corrupt church – all at the same time.
In conclusion, what I have learned is that the catholic church has become wiser, and learned a great deal from this “crisis”.
And what I believe they have learned is this:
1- Hire PhD’s of many organizations, and pay them well.
2- Use the intelligence and training of these professionals to convince the public of your agenda.
3- Invite speakers that are advocates of clergy abuse victims to conferences to increase the public’s
trust that you are doing the right thing, then dismiss them as invisible once again.
4- Pay for John Jay Reports and such done by more PhD’s, and feed them your desired statistics.
5- Have your hired PhD’s write more articles concerning your incredible outreach and progress.
6- Pounce on any vocal victims and advocates who come forward to expose the truth.
7- Hire expensive lawyers to eradicate any opposition at any cost.
8- Continue business as usual, and honor and revere the shredding machine as a gift from God.
9- Hire even more PhD’s, and continue the charade.
10- Keep trampling victims of clergy, they’re hurt and vulnerable, and easy to continue to abuse.
And last, but not least, the most important thing I learned at the conference for sexual abuse in the catholic church is this quote by the sociologist in the conference:
“This can’t be fixed.”

I was prompted to write this story …. More like triggered to write this story, as a response to a column in Psychology Today by Thomas Plante, PhD. He wrote an article on his column “Do the right thing”, concerning the “John Jay Report on Clergy Abuse.”
It occurred to me as I stared at his article – and then at my computer; that maybe I should disassociate instead. Why not. There is an unwritten law that establishes the rules on child abuse articles; and sets boundaries for abuse victims such as myself: to refrain from writing op-eds because child abuse victims:
“ have strong opinions and emotional hysteria.”
I credit those last six words to Thomas Plante, PhD. May 28th, 2011. They are firmly implanted in my Post Traumatic Stress Disordered brain. If this were a supervised “step” program, I should realize that I should not be typing right now – and I should be taking medication to stop me from having emotional hysteria about clergy abuse. Perhaps medication should be prescribed to me by a psychologist who is an expert on clergy abuse victims who have “strong opinions” .
I’ll go out on a limb here, and type my opinion anyway. Who knows, it may even be therapeutic, in a unprofessional way of course, but maybe that’s just what I need to
veer back on the road to recovery.
The “John Jay Study on Clergy Abuse” which is apparently the self proclaimed ultimate authoritative manual on the subject, is said to be non-partial; even though the Catholic Hierarchy was a major financial contributor. It’s just a minor coincidence that has no effect on the outcome of the study I’m told; so I’ll keep my hysteria in check.
Dr. Thomas Plante says that the John Jay Report:
“concludes that the vast majority of clergy sex offenders are not pedophiles at all, but were situational generalists violating whoever they had access to.” Ironically, Dr. Plante was a consultant on the project.
Well, I’ll be darned. Stupid me – all this time I had thought that the priest who violently raped me was a pedophile, and now I find out that he was only a “situational generalist”. I could clearly see now why Dr. Plante and some of the other good people at John Jay who were paid by the Catholic Church may consider me an emotional hysteric. I confused a holy priest who raped me, with a mere “situational generalist”; now I realize that I blew the whole thing out of proportion – and I probably deserved it.
The report also states that the “numbers (of abuse) as well as the style and type of abuse (in the Catholic Church) is fairly consistent with other large organizations”. I’ve got to admit, I’m shocked again. I must have wrongfully assumed that the uncountable amount of victims alleging clergy sexual abuse in the news on a daily basis was a high figure.
The news people all over the world must have overlooked the massive allegations of sexual abuse cases at other organizations because of that hysteria Dr. Plante mentioned.
So I Googled dozens of large organizations all over the planet, and I just couldn’t find any at all who have paid 3 billion dollars in sexual abuse lawsuit claims in the past 5 years.
Could it be that Google, and other search engines forgot to mention all of those other organizations who have just as many claims of child abuse? Maybe they’re all conspiring against the church, and hiding all those tens of thousands of claims as well? I think an investigation into the matter is warranted!
Last but not least, The John Jay Report stated that only four percent of priests were
reported to be sex offenders. That puzzled me also. As a leader in the San Francisco Bay Area for SNAP, -The Survivors Network of those Abused by Priests, I have fielded several hundred calls from people alleging sexual abuse by priests for ten years.
My own records of calls and e-mails for the last ten years showed that approximately 1 in ten people who were sexually abused by clergy actually reported their cases to authorities, or made claims, or filed lawsuits. That was a head scratcher. Could it be that people who are abused in the Bay Area are the only people who fail to report incidents at such a level?
So I hit Google again, possibly instigated by that hysteria Dr. Plante mentioned; but I was obsessed with the issue. I found an article by Time magazine in 1998 that mentioned the estimated 1 in ten figure of reporting abuse also. I found several articles by child abuse organizations, and psychologists alike, that stated similar numbers. The bottom line was that child abuse cases, especially clergy abuse cases, were grossly under-reported; the percentage estimates consistently showed that anywhere from 60 to 90 percent were not reported at all. This matched my own records, and the records of many of the other child abuse advocates I interviewed as well.
So where did the John Jay report come up with the figure that only 4% of priests were alleged to be molesters? What about the 60 to 90 percent of incidents that many other professionals say are not reported? Did the John Jay investigators forget to factor those cases in?
Even the US Department of Justice states that only 25% of rape cases go reported, and that includes adults; child sex abuse cases of under-reporting are higher.
(National Crime Victimization Survey, Bureau of Justice Statistics, U.S. Department of Justice)
By the way, the University of Santa Clara shows Dr. Plante as being an employee of that Catholic University now on their website. I imagine that he earns a significantly high wage there. Gee whiz, could that influence his views on the Catholic Church and the John Jay Report?
On second thought, don’t ask me; I’m a certified “strongly opinionated hysteric”, who was merely touched by a “situational generalist.”

To quote a phrase of irony, “You can’t even make up stuff like that!”
Let’s just start at the headline. The Stockton Diocese recently moved it’s headquarters to a new site – 212 San Joaquin St, Stockton, California. In 1893, this building site was known as Cunningham’s Castle, which was the San Joaquin County Jail.
So the Diocese of Stockton is literally a famous jail site. Outside the present Diocese building, you can see the brass plaque attached to the building. It states that it is a historic jail. Above the jail sign, you can see the sign “Diocese of Stockton”. I don’t know if it’s comical or frightening. I’ll opt for the latter.
Why is this so ironic?
To quote Wikipedia, “The sexual abuse scandal in the Diocese of Stockton is a significant episode in the series of catholic sex abuse cases in the United States and Ireland.” And the reason for this statement is that the former highest ranking Cardinal of the Western United States – Cardinal Roger Mahony, was found to be the person who shuffled convicted pedophile Fr. Oliver O’Grady throughout the Stockton Diocese, after O’Grady was known to be a serial molester. O’ Grady left a trail of debauchery throughout parishes all over the Diocese, and all fingers seem to point to Cardinal Mahony for shielding, protecting, and covering for the serial child rapist.
Next irony: Fr. Oliver O’Grady is in jail now in Ireland, found guilty of possession of child pornography, amongst other complaints. I do not know if O’Grady knows the Diocese of Stockton is in jail itself on San Joaquin Street, his old stomping grounds.
But in an odd way it seems to me to be fitting coincidence, a dark tribute to the legacy of twisted fate, and perhaps it may also be a haunting reminder to child abuse victims; not unlike that of a war memorial.
A documentary was made about O’Grady and Mahony’s tale of corruption entitled “Deliver Us From Evil” in 2006. I recommend you take your anti-fainting pills before you view it.
But allow me to keep stacking the ironies. The Diocese of Stockton just recently paid a 3.75 million dollar settlement to halt a clergy abuse court case in Stockton, whereas another Irish Priest named Fr. Michael Kelly was found liable for child molestation. And who was the former Bishop who shuffled Fr. Kelly around the Diocese? You probably guessed- Cardinal Mahony. And why did the diocese quickly shell out a 3.75 million dollar check to stop the trial in it’s tracks? Because Cardinal Mahony was due to be put on the stand. I think lawyers and consultants call that: “Damage control”.
Since I insist on stacking the ironies in this story, by all means, let’s take a peak at the Parishes both priests were shuffled around to by the Stockton Diocese. Both priests were placed at Our Lady of Fatima, Presentation of Blessed Virgin Mary, St. Andrews, St. Thomas Aquinas, and St. Joachims. What a coincidence. An ominous and eerie coincidence.
While I’m on a roll of ironic pile-ups, I should mention the Stockton Jail site again. Because if you are standing in front of the Stockton Diocese-slash-jail site, and you look across the street, there is the office building of Drivon and Drivon- the lawyers who sued the Diocese of Stockton in 1998, for child abuse by Fr. O’Grady, on behalf of two brothers. The verdict in that case yielded a world record 30 million dollar court jury judgment against the Diocese.
And who was the Cardinal who was responsible for that financial fiasco? Need I say it?
No surprise there, it was Cardinal Mahony. Although Mahony fought the admissibility of bringing in Diocesan records, appealed it, and denied he knew anything, the jury didn’t buy it; and the evidence was overwhelming. Thirty million dollars worth of overwhelming.
But this story would not be complete without the next irony. A brand new case of child sex abuse has just been brought against the Diocese of Stockton. The latest victim is 25 years old, and was molested at the age of 5. He is within the California statute of limitations, and the lawsuit case was filed this week. And the clergy sex abuser is:
yes- Fr. O’Grady. And the person who shuffled O’Grady to the parish where the unfortunate victim was molested is: yes- Cardinal Mahony.
At this point my mind is so boggled, it would be wise to wrap this story up. I am a clergy abuse victim myself, and I find these multiple ironies triggering. And I should mention that I previously sued the Catholic church in the San Francisco Bay Area for an unrelated clergy abuse case and won the prolonged case in 2009. But my case was not at the Stockton Diocese. However, I should mention an irony; my lawyers who represented me were Drivon and Drivon- located across the street from the Diocese of Stockton jail site.

STOCKTON, CA.
The Diocese of Stockton’s latest lawsuit nightmare may very well be the straw that breaks the Cardinal’s back. Cardinal Mahony of Los Angeles California to be precise.
A new allegation and lawsuit has surfaced this week in San Joaquin Superior Court naming convicted serial molester Fr. Oliver O’Grady once again as the child sex abuser of a victim who is now 25, and well within the statute of limitations for child abuse court cases – an atomic bomb of news that may cause the Stockton Diocese to implode. O’Grady was previously convicted in 1993, for lewd and lascivious acts of child abuse.
Fr. O’ Grady is in jail in Ireland right now, serving a three year sentence for a conviction of possession of child pornography, which followed numerous previous lawsuit settlements that were paid by the Stockton Diocese for his admitted molestation spree which lasted decades in California. The new Superior Court lawsuit filed by attorney Joe George of Sacramento, states that the victim was 4 to 5 years old when he was molested by O’Grady in 1992, when O’Grady was in ministry at Saint Andrew’s Parish in San Andreas, and at Saint Anthony’s.
According to prior court documents, in 1984 O’Grady had admitted that he was a child molester, and instead of his removal, Cardinal Mahony apparently reassigned the predator to St. Andrews. This latest victim alleges he was molested eight years after Mahony had knowledge of Grady’s sordid history of child abuse.
Cardinal Mahony was accused in several cases of of shuffling the predator O’Grady knowingly, and the Diocese of Stockton was hit with a 30 million dollar court judgment in July of 1998, for O’Gradys child molestation abuses- a record in the State.
Ironically, the dust hadn’t even cleared at the Stockton Diocese from a 3.75 million dollar lawsuit settlement from just last month, when the Bishop of Stockton shelled out more Catholic Church money to pay for the civil trial of Fr. Michael Kelly, who was found liable by a jury vote of 12 to 0.
Although Fr. Kelly claimed he was innocent during the lengthy trial brought on by victim Travis Trotter, Fr. Kelly fled the country to go to Ireland during the second phase of the court trial; which was to prove the ongoing negligence by the Diocese and Cardinal Mahony.
The Diocese of Stockton responded quickly by settling the case before the second phase of the trial was completed, apparently implementing much needed damage control. Cardinal Mahony was scheduled to take the stand in the Kelly trial to be questioned about the intentional shuffling of known predators; an accusation Mahony is no stranger to.
According to additional church documents, Fr. O’Grady and Fr. Kelly had both been sent to California from Ireland, and had both worked at St. Andrews, St. Thomas Aquinas, our Lady of Fatima, and at St. Joachim’s. Ironically, St. Joachim’s is where Fr. Kelly was in ministry just last month during his trial.
The coincidences in these cases, and the mounting accusations of negligence and prior knowledge by Mahony have been continuous for over a decade in California. This latest lawsuit is sure to have far reaching implications, and Fr. O’Grady has admitted that he has molested over two dozen victims, but other estimates by child abuse victims advocates are much higher.
SNAP- The Survivors Network of those Abused by Priests, believes that the number of O’Grady’s victims who have not come forward may be significantly higher, as the majority of child abuse victims commonly suffer in silence; and have not come forward publicly about their childhood abuse.
Other alleged victims of Fr. O’Grady and Fr. Kelly have been encouraged to come forward, to seek professional help and guidance, and to report to law enforcement officials.

Recent stories of the Catholic Order of Jesuits track records have not only been haunting them, but have resulted in convictions by Department of Homeland Security, and the State of Wisconsin.
The most recent outrage was when a top member of the Board of Trustees of Boston College, Fr. Schaeffer, was forced to resign as a result of his failure to turn in convicted serial abuser Fr. Donald McGuire years ago, when he knew of the danger McGuire presented to children. The Jesuits have consistently covered up records of molestations by clergy, and it’s policy has resulted in several lawsuits, and large settlements paid out as a result of their conduct.
But the collateral affect of the Jesuit Order’s policies and conduct, not just in the USA, but elsewhere in the world, has had devastating implications. Even the sacred saints of the catholic church have been affected by the unchecked systematic manner of the “Society of Jesus”, as they are called.
And one of the most revered saints in our time, Mother Teresa herself, has been tainted by her connection to the rampant misguidance of Jesuits like Fr. Donald McGuire-who was her own personal confessor; and who was the most notorious serial pedophile the Jesuit Order has ever protected, shuffled, shielded; and the Jesuists have ultimately regretting doing so.
But this sordid historic story of debauchery isn’t over yet. The Jesuits had a habit of sending Priests who were reported to them as being child molesters to a “treatment center” for sexual abusers, known as St. Luke’s Institute in Maryland, without reporting the crimes of child rape to authorities. This policy enabled child rapists to visit St. Luke’s Institute for short periods of time; and then be released to continue their pattern of abuse.
The haunting results of Karma, dictated by destiny- for the misguided attitude of complacency, is knocking at the Jesuits door again. And the dodging of responsibility, and the shunning of accountability, shall be the ringing of the bells heard at the “Society of Jesus” headquarters bell towers all over the world, increasingly more in the future.
The retreat director of the Los Gatos Jesuit facility Fr. John Privett, was made aware of sexual abuse by Jesuit priest Fr. Conner-by Fr. Aherne at the Jesuit Sacred Heart Center in Los Gatos, and did not report the abuser to authorities. According to the Los Angeles Times:
“Fr. Aherne ordered Connor to read the California Province policy on sexual harassment and misconduct, which specifically banned the practice of Jesuits giving or assisting in massages “because of the liability involved.” Connor also signed a May 4, 1995, letter from Aherne that ordered him to stay away from (victims) John and James. Aherne filed a separate memo notifying Father John Privett, the California provincial at the time who lived and worked at Sacred Heart.
Neither Aherne nor Privett alerted law enforcement authorities.”

Fr. Privett is still the current listed retreat director at Jesuit Retreat Center, but it appears as though his past alleged policy and conduct of not reporting sexual abuse is the same issue that Fr. Schaeffer was busted for this week at Boston College. Let’s just logically assume that having a record of not reporting sex crimes to police-should be an indicator that one should not be running a large expensive prestigious college.
But wait- there’s more. The current Professor, and Ministry Coordinator at The Catholic University of America, in Washington DC, is Rev. Mon. Stephen Rossetti PhD, former CEO of Saint Luke’s Institute, for 13 years, where many serial pedophiles were “treated”, and not turned into police. Convicted serial rapist Fr. McGuire himself, was there for a week, and released, without any warning sent to police, or children at parishes and missionaries where Fr. McGuire continued to molest and rape more innocent children.
I contacted Fr. Rossetti myself, and asked him why he didn’t turn McGuire into police authorities, knowing Fr. McGuire was a serial molester. Fr. Stephen Rossetti responded to me on March 21, 2012 with this remark:
“….Fr McGuire was evaluated at Saint Luke Institute for one week but subsequently treated elsewhere. Saint Luke Institute is not able to tell sending organizations what to do with their individuals, but it can make clinical recommendations.”
Fr. Rossetti further stated that:
“Actually, the District Attorney of Maryland, where Saint Luke Institute is located, said in writing that the child reporting statutes of Maryland at that time did not allow one to break the Maryland law of medical confidentiality to report child sexual abuse when it happened out of State. Thus, had we reported it, we would have been violating the State laws of Maryland. Saint Luke Institute is a licensed mental health facility and thus is bound by Maryland law to maintain the confidentiality of its patients and can only break that confidentiality when State law permits us to do so.”
So there you have it. The Jesuits sent serial molesters to Maryland, and according to Fr. Rossetti, as long as the pedophiles molested kids outside Maryland, the Institute did not have to report it. Well isn’t that special. Then why wasn’t Fr. McGuire sent to a facility somewhere else where they did have to report child sexual abuse? Surely, a Professor with a degree in psychology, and a PhD, and all the trophies Fr. Rossetti had, could figure that out.
Could it be that the serial molesters were sent to Maryland intentionally because the Jesuits and the Institute there didn’t have to report it; as opposed to sending them somewhere else? Could the Jesuits be that calculating and deceptive? The answer may lie in their track record and history, especially today; when they are getting busted continuously because the courts and the public just aren’t buying their stories of cover-ups, non-reporting, and excuses as to why so many serial pedophiles were not halted in their tracks – when they should have been.
This world is a better place because Boston college Jesuit Fr. Schaeffer resigned, and I think it would be a better place if college leaders Fr. Privett, and Fr. Rossetti resigned as well; and then men or women- who have a different history of policies concerning serial molesters where put in their positions instead.

STOCKTON, CA –
On Friday morning, the Stockton Diocese settled a lawsuit against Fr. Michael Kelly, for 3.7 million, according to the spokesman for the Diocese. Fr. Kelly was found liable last week for a child sex abuse case, and he fled to Ireland this week. This case was a highly disputed case, and many supporters of the priest were very vocal during the last month about their belief that the current Pastor of St. Joachims, in Lockeford, was not only innocent; but he was a target of a plaintiff who had “false memorys” and was fabricating a tale for money.
The case will have a far reaching impact, as it was a case of highly disputed “repressed memory”, claimed by the victim, Z7 John Doe, represented by attorney John Manly.
Fr. Kelly had sent a letter to Bishop Blaire of Stockton a few days ago, complaining that he had stomach problems because of the trial, and he disappeared shortly afterwords. Cardinal Roger Mahony, who was the Bishop of the Diocese of Stockton at the time of the abuse 25 years ago, was expected to take the stand this week, and the church apparently was doing some damage control, before Cardinal Mahony was due to testify. Mahony had been suspected of shuffling Fr. Kelly in the Diocese, and the accusation, if proven in court, would have been devastating to the church. Mahony had previously been accused of transporting infamous serial molester Fr. Oliver O’Grady in the same diocese, and a past lawsuit accusing Mahony and the diocese for the same activity had resulted in a 30 million dollar court judgment the diocese.
This case may very well affect similar cases in California and other states, as it will set a precedent for jury trial decisions in repressed memory claims of child sex abuse. The jury had decided by unanimous decision in favor of the plaintiff in the case, and this fact can additionally influence public opinion on the subject.
In the meantime, Cardinal Mahony, who retired last year, has once again escaped further scrutiny on the witness stand, which may have produced further evidence of other implications of wrongdoings by the notorius cleric. The Diocese of Los Angeles, had also settled a 660 million dollar settlement for 500 plaintiffs a few years ago, while Cardinal Mahony was the top catholic hierarchy figure there.
Victims advocates were proud of the plaintiff in this case, as it was difficult for him to re-live the trauma of the abuse, and the court process was controversial. “Hopefully this settlement will inspire other victims of clergy abuse to come forward, as there are many other alleged victims who suffer in the Diocese of Stockton in silence, and have never sought justice for the crimes committed against them”, said North Cal leader of SNAP- The Survivors Network of those Abused by Priests”. -Ibid – Joey Piscitelli

Fr. Michael Kelly, accused molester, who bombarded the Superior Court in Stockton, California very recently, along with dozens of his glassy eyed groupies and supporters all month, has skipped out!
Of shock to no one with conscience, the pedophile priest was found guilty, by a 12 to 0 slam dunk by a jury trial- who took record short time to reach the guilty verdict without blinking.
After the dramatic rehearsed court showing of his adamant, relentless cries of innocence and sheer martyrdom, Kelly has fled to Ireland, with a “tummy ache.” Yes, a “tummy ache”. No surprise there. He bolted like a coward, heading for his Irish homeland and ignoring his subpoena – and the law; like thousands of guilty catholic clergymen who preceeded him.
Right when a rapidly dwindling few were thinking maybe, just maybe – the Catholic Church is starting to clean up their act, and become accountable….they throw the holy crap back in our face. This latest manure soaked pedo-story goes like this; Fr. Michael Kelly, pastor at St. Joachim’s in Lodi, California, (of course a place with children), was sued, along with the Diocese of Stockton for the usual clergy child abuse accusations. I don’t recommend you Google- “clergy abuse”, I don’t think they can handle over a trillion hits.
But this case was a high profile case, because the victim, John Doe, was a highly decorated war veteran pilot from Afghanistan, who had “repressed memory”. The victim recalled later on in his life, that 25 years ago in the 1980’s, that Fr. Kelly molested him. A suit was filed recently against Fr. Kelly and the Diocese of Stockton for negligent child sex abuse. The Diocese of Stockton is by no means a stranger to rancid clergy abuse cases and cover-ups.
Flocks of Fr. Kelly’s devout sheeples, emerged in droves to support the accused molester, which is all too typical in these cases, and they were belligerent, obnoxious, and ready to draw blood for their cause. The saber toothed sheeples relentlessly spewed venom at the child abuse victims advocates who appeared at the court; as Fr. kelly’s groupies idolized the guilty cleric blindly. Those sheeples blinders are probably well worn out in the diocese of Stockton by now.
The trial took two weeks, and the Catholic Church produced dozens of well paid psychological experts to refute “repressed memory”, and to belittle and rip apart the victim, without mercy. After counting their money, the church’s “experts” apparantly disappeared – most probably in anticipation for the next circus; and the next check from the church for their all too familiar, babbling, rehearsed expert testimonials.
Fortunately, the victim was strong, intelligent, and had the truth on his side- something the Catholic Church Molestation Machine constantly seems to overlook in these cases. After all, the church has enjoyed the dodging of clergy abuse convictions for centuries, it’s going to take a while for reality to to completely set in.
After the jury guilty verdict, the second phase of the trial was supposed to start. This means that the Diocese was going to take the stand, and the jury would determine just how negligent the diocese was for allowing Fr. Kelly to be around children, and decide on an award for the plaintiff.
But Fr. Kelly, unbeknownst to Bishop Blaire of Stockton, suddenly vanished! Wink. Wink.
The disgraced priest left a teary eyed note to the Bishop, and said basically that he bolted because he had a belly ache, and he felt sorry for himself. Imagine that. And apparently he didn’t apologize to the victim, he spewed the usual “I’m the victim priest” letter of self indulgent pity, and completed the clerical lack of remorse routine like a pro. But the Bishop, being obviously educated about clergy pedophiles reputations by now, kept the good bye letter in tact, but must have forgot to keep the priest in tact. Wink. Wink.
Fr. Kelly was supposed to take the stand again shortly, to face his accusers attorney, and now the Bishop of Stockton has to make sad Catholic hierarchy faces and apologize. But Bishop Blaire and the diocese are well seasoned veterans now after being sued regularly, and losing; and the diocese fortunately has plenty of well scripted comments in it’s files to accommodate every negligent occasion.

I should have seen that coming a long time ago. I should have been ready to answer my daughter. But there I was, looking down into those little brown eyes, staring at the frown on her pretty little forehead, and I was lost. But not for a few seconds, like I typically was when she surprised me with her other kiddie questions. I was looking through her, into the background of trees behind her, into an abyss, that silent place in time that doesn’t exist.
I wasn’t trying to figure out how to answer her, I was trying to figure out why she asked me that question. Why did she say the word – rape? Where did she hear that?
Did she know what it meant? And the worst question that tore through my mind that instant – did she really know who I was; and what had happened to me when I was a child? I wanted to hide, but I couldn’t. I had to be brave.
I tried so hard to stay there, with her, while she stared up at me, and I felt myself leaving the earth instead. I wanted to stay with her so much, to answer her question, like a Daddy should. A strong dad…a smart dad…a wise dad. The daddy she was used to.
But I was failing. I knew I was going to that place, that bad place – where I go involuntarily when I get triggered. Where I go when I have those nightmares, those intrusive thoughts; that place that’s dark and creepy, that place where I have died so many times.
She began to disappear, my little girl, and fade into the background, and I was unable to see or hear her anymore; the curtain of trauma had isolated us both, and I was alone somewhere that I’ll never take her to see.
I was back in the dark room with the priest, when I was a young puppet, and the echoes of pain were bouncing off the walls, and Jesus had fallen from his cross. The shiny cross around the priest’s neck glistened in the dark, while the monster took my soul with him to hell. I heard a sound in the distance, and I groped in the dark room to reach toward it, but the monster wouldn’t let me go. My daughter was crying for her daddy to come back, the sound was faint, but I knew she was out there somewhere in the dark clouds; it was just too difficult to see.
I realized I had been gone for hours, or was it just seconds? And my daughter was tugging at my shirt.
She woke me from the stupor, “Daddy, why do priests rape little kids?”
My eyes may have been wide open the whole time, I really don’t know, but I looked toward her as if she were going to fade away again.
I screamed loudly at her in a rage:
“Because they’re sick fucking monsters with no conscience, and they don’t believe in their phony God, who does nothing to save the kids they destroy, and they don’t care about how much pain they cause, and I hope they all burn in hell!”
My little girl looked up at me with concern and said, “Daddy, why are you so quiet, you never answered my question?”
I realized then, that I really hadn’t answered her, that I had imagined that I screamed; and I was fortunate enough to have left her when I visited that place in hell, and she would never know.
“Hug daddy, and I want you to know I love you”, I said. “We’ll talk about this later, when daddy is ready”.
I took her little hand in mine, and I walked slowly through the garden with her.
“The flowers are so pretty this time of year, aren’t they sweety?”
“They sure are daddy” she responded.
I bent down on my knees and looked into her bright brown eyes, and I held her tightly and whispered,
“I love you , and I want you to promise daddy you will never be alone with a priest”.
“I won’t daddy “ she smiled, “I love you too”.
