Not surprisingly, the politician's speech turns out to have said nothing.

I've read Renacci's quote several times and I'm not sure he said what Tana thinks he said. It's a completely vacuous, nonsensical answer.

White, black, polka-dotted - I wouldn't vote for this man simply because he can't put two coherent words together.

They're usually proud Libertarians too -chanting the "the sink or swim" mantra over and over and championing Social Darwinism even though the majority of them have a certain degree of wealth or success owing only to the fact that they were born into it or have largely benefitted from the system they decry yet refuse to acknowledge it.

These are the same people who put forth that the unfettered Free Market would always self-police itself and correct any unethical or unfair practices because consumers and customers would force it to by shifting their patronage and money away from businesses that didn't change objectible behavior. Of course, we've seen that film before. It doesn't happen. It took the Civil Rights Act and the federal government's intervention to force desegregation and change. Were we to have waited for the Free Market to have corrected any of that, we'd still be drinking from different water fountains and eating in different rooms and at separate lunch counters.

Don't forget about the idiots who seem to want a return to the Wild West either. You know, Johnny-wannabe-this-time-it's-for-real, marine... with a Glock strapped to his leg so he can go to Krogers. These are some of the same brilliant minds that support this stuff too.

Most absolutely do identify themselves with the few who would dominate everyone else. That's the one right that they believe nobody else has except for the wealthy. Isn't it ironic that they also claim to own Christianity and the Bible yet they turn their backs on the Christian principle of respect and care for the poor and downtrodden?
Somehow they have turned the Christian message of love for neighbors and the poor into hate for anything except great wealth and the extreme prestige of World Emperors.

They are the people of the LIE.

Renacci probably didn't give it a second thought -and if he did, it was overshadowed by the greater number of white votes he probably gained as opposed to any potential non-white votes he lost.

Unfortunately, when minorities aren't being thoroughly disenfranchised, intimidated, misled, or flat out discouraged from taking part in the electoral process by a concerted effort on the right -there's been a great disconnect and lack of participation on their own part...

2010 will not see a return of the left-wing newly registered and active minority voters from 2008 nor will 2012. A Democratic Congress may barely weather the storm, but I doubt it. Our President, barring some dramatic miracle, has the odds completely against him next cycle. History was made in 2008. Many of those voters will never even think about hitting the ballot box again in their lives...

I don't think the GOP, in general, ever tries too hard to attract non-white voters.

Now, if only most Americans could be made aware of this platform and to thoroughly understand it along with the fact that it is overwhelmingly supported by the right-wing -we'd likely see an overall reduction of their ranks, a swell of motivated new voters becoming activated on the left, and a newly energized, emboldened, and motivated movement of progressives ready to take up the fight in November.

But don't bank on that.

Actually, we should applaud these right-wing candidates who are openly advocating the poisonous underpinnings of Libertarian ideology only to find that they are unable to truthfully articulate those policies and positions to their ultimate real world implications and conclusions without alienating a large portion of Americans and utterly repulsing the majority.

By: mainspark

<guid

However, he mentioned that he was mayor of his town, so he's been elected in the past. What remains to be seen is whether or not the voters are stupid enough to vote for him again.

Renacci's blather was dizzying, which reminded me of Sarah Palin.

Hopefully, he's too stupid to be elected. Bet this guy, Renacci, advocates repeal of the 14th Amendment, as well as all federal civil rights legislation. He seems to believe that a city/town/village mayor should be empowered to decide what rights, if any, residents of her/his municipality should have/be able to exercise. Was this guy's name formerly "Jim Crow?" I guess it's not too surprising that the tea-baggers would put up such a dim bulb as a candidate for public office.

I sincerely hope the non-whites, non-WASPs, et al, got the message.
