You missed the point of my comparison with respect to the treatment given to
Joe the Plumber/Sarah Palin Vs. the candidate Obama. I'll go slow, and
explain it!
The American media chose to idolize the candidate Obama, rather than treat
him with a healthy dose of scepticism. For example: (not asking OBAMA about
the 20 years he admitted spending in the abominable rev wright's church, and
never noticed the racist rants of a lunatic)
You are either invincibly stupid, or hopelessly naive! Maybe you are both!
BTW, Obama IS an angry black man! Read his books!
Where do you find the right wing media????????????? What color is the moon
on your planet. The NYT, CBS,NBC,ABC, MSNBC, CNN, BBC, Rueters, Time,
Newsweek, Etal are so disgustingly liberal, they are all going out of
business, as fewer and fewer Americans trust them to DO THEIR JOB! You may
be the product of cousins whom married, you may have been dropped on your
head, I have no way of knowing which. I am SOOOO relieved to find people,
whom express the sort of blither, such as you, are increasingly
marginalized, if not openly ridiculed. Please, stay in this country, there
is nothing as entertaining as reading your incessant babbling!
It's hysterical!!!!

Quannah,<br

On this point both cases are comparable and just an "apple and oranges" relationship. I don't recall Hamilton as being a part of the original Constitution convention. I only mentioned that the convention members apparently found good cause to deny the federal government a per capita tax ("income tax") and they had a lot of experience with the issue. The fact that a national income tax had existed as a part of a tradition did not make it legal or otherwise supportable. Tradition does not make for good law.

I only referred the history to the history of the 11th Amendment in relation to the 16th amendment as they were both a reaction to U.S. Supreme Court ruling.

First, I'm not an Obama supporter, so you make the wrong assumption there. And I think he received a lot of scrutiny on some subjects that Faux Noose was pushing (he's not a citizen, he's a Muslim, he's an angry black man, he's a communist, etc.) which took away from the REAL issues he should have had to answer to. That political hit job came from the RIGHT-WING media, and was quickly picked up by the mainstream media precisely because they have moved closer to the Right.

Last I checked, Joe the Pluber and Bristol Palin weren't running for President, but I could be mistaken... maybe I missed something.

See, tompain, elections are the reason Obama won. You can't blame me, and you can't blame the "liberal media." It's what happens when you hold elections. Someone WINS. That's the part you're having a difficult time with. Your guy lost.

I'm as much an American as you are, and I would put my love for Freedom up against yours any day. See, I have a much more broad view of what freedom is. Yours, however, seems to be that of all the wing-nut Republics: "If you don't agree with ME, you aren't a 'freedom-loving' American!" That isn't how it works. And if I choose to emigrate, it will be because your side has taken over and I don't want to live under a theocratic fascist state... which is what your side wants. The antithesis of FREEDOM. But that's MY decision to make. I may just as well decide to stay. But you have no authority to say whether I'm a "Freedom-loving American" or not.

Yes, I'm a Democratic Socialist! Boo! Boo! Did that scare you? See, in this country, I'm free to believe that. Still.
I would ask you first, do you believe the American People were served well last election cycle, by the American Media? Do you believe the media as a whole, performed well in their treatment of Candidate Obama? Did any of them (CBS,NBC,ABC,NYT, etal) ask the candidate Obama any tough questions. Did they treat him to the scrutiny given to Joe :the Plumber", or Sarah Palin's daughter?? The answer is of course no.
Had the naive portion of America, the one's out in the ether, whom still read/believe what's written in the papers, and have NO IDEA what political free speech is...we would not have to deal with Obama's failing initiatives. You ( I am happy to say) are a minority, as far as politics are concerned.
Perhaps you would be better served emigrating to Australia!!! God knows you aren't a freedom loving American at heart. You are an angry, bitter, professional VICTIM. You won't be happy until Karl Marx replaces Washington on the dollar bill! Bye Bye

Quannah, I have read your comments. WOW! I'm teetering between skepticism and cynicism, and haven't quite landed in either camp... perhaps there's still a shred of hope barely breathing somewhere.

Zappa is one of my musical heroes, as well as a great philosopher! Nice to find a "fellow traveler."

Here's a treat for you:

Dumb All Over

Whoever we are, wherever we're from, we shoulda noticed by now our behaviour is dumb

And if our chances expect to improve it's gonna take a lot more than tryin' to remove the other race or the other whatever from the face of the planet altogether

They call it "The Earth" which is a dumb kinda name but they named it right 'cause we behave the same

We are dumb all over

Dumb all over, yes we are, dumb all over, near and far, dumb all over, black 'n white, people, we is not wrapped tight

And nerds on the left, nerds on the right

Religious fanatics on the air every night, sayin' the bible tells the story and makes the details sound real gory about what to do if the geeks over there don't believe in the book we got over here

You can't run a race without no feet

And pretty soon there won't be no street for dummies to jog on or doggies to dog on

Religious fanatics can make it be all gone

I mean it won't blow up and disappear, it'll just look ugly for a thousand years

You can't run a country by a book of religion

Not by a heap or a lump or a smidgeon of foolish rules of ancient date, designed to make you all feel great while you fold, spindle and mutilate those unbelievers from a neighbouring state

To arms, to arms

Hooray! That's great, two legs ain't bad

Unless there's a crate they ship the parts to mama in

For souvenirs: two ears (Get down)

Not his, not hers but what the hey

The good book says, "It's gotta be that way"

But their book says, "Revenge the crusades"

With whips 'n chains and hand grenades

Two arms, two arms

Have another and another

Our Cod says, "There ain't no other"

Our Cod says, "It's all ok"

Our god says "This is the way"

It says in the book, "Burn and destroy"

And repent and redeem and revenge and deploy and rumble thee forth to the land of the unbelieving scum on the other side

'Cause they don't go for what's in the book and that makes 'em bad

So verily we must choppeth them up and stompeth them down

Or rent a nice French bomb to poof them out of existence while leaving their real estate just where we need it to use again for temples in which to praise our god, 'cause he can really take care of business

And when his humble TV servant with humble white hair and humble glasses and a nice brown suit and maybe a blonde wife who takes phone calls, tells us our god says it's ok to do this stuff, then we gotta do it

'Cause if we don't do it we ain't "Gwine up to hebbin"

Depending on which book you're using at the time

Can't use theirs, it don't work, it's all lies, gotta use mine

Ain't that right?

That's what they say

Every night, everyday

Hey, we can't really be dumb if we're just following god's orders

Well let's get serious, god knows what he's doin'

He wrote this book here and the book says, "He made us all to be just like him"

So, if we're dumb, then god is dumb and maybe even a little ugly on the side

Dumb all over, a little ugly on the side

Dumb all over, a little ugly on the side

Dumb all over, a little ugly on the side

Dumb all over, a little ugly on the side

That's great, two legs ain't bad

Unless there's a crate they ship the parts to mama in

For souvenirs: two ears (Get down)

Not his, not hers but what the hey

The good book says, “It's gotta be that way”

But their book says, “Revenge the crusades”

With whips 'n chains and hand grenades

Two arms, two arms

Have another and another

Our Cod says, “There ain't no other”

Our Cod says, “It's all ok”

Our god says “This is the way”

It says in the book, “Burn and destroy”

'Cause if we don't do it we ain't “Gwine up to hebbin”

Depending on which book you're using at the time

Can't use theirs, it don't work, it's all lies, gotta use mine

Ain't that right?

That's what they say

Every night, everyday

Hey, we can't really be dumb if we're just following god's orders

Well let's get serious, god knows what he's doin'

He wrote this book here and the book says, “He made us all to be just like him”

So, if we're dumb, then god is dumb and maybe even a little ugly on the side

Dumb all over, a little ugly on the side

Dumb all over, a little ugly on the side

Dumb all over, a little ugly on the side

Dumb all over, a little ugly on the side

<a

As we age, memories tend to soften the rough edges of our childhoods, memories become cloudy and we tend to replace the missing pieces with inaccurate recollections. I've never known a Republican or big business that could see past the end of their turned up nose. It's all profit right now, the hell with planning. Example: the country has farmed out so much industry and jobs that if we continue down this downsourcing path much longer there will be nobody able to spend money on the very products industry ships out because there will be no jobs and hence no pay.
This is extreme shortsightedness. How does any business expect to remain profitable if it supports laws that take away earning power from its customers and kills unions with right-to-work laws and other Bolshevik tactics? Irony and stupidity at its finest here, folks. Rich bastards are just as stupid as the little guy they hate, and maybe they'll be living in a cardboard box under an interstate bridge someday because they had to have all the money and power to themselves right now instead of assuring themselves of a profitable income for years to come.

Living in the past is illusionary at the least, and a sign of stupidity at the worst. Exactly how did we poor, stupid , conservatives know to vote Republican all those years before Fox news was there to tell us to? After the embarrassment of Carter I started voting for candidates that wanted the U.S. to remain strong. You remind of something I heard about Nixon. This lady was talking to a friend and said " I don't know how he won, no one I know voted him". Get out in fly over country and talk to people who work and produce and see what say.
This post had 10 misspelled words but I used my spell check and corrected them.

You espouse one man one vote except for “stupid people” that are not intelligent enough to vote correctly.
