There is no reason under the sun why religions
and all such mythical thinking shouldn't be eliminated, for the same
reason that we depart from our early childhood dependence on such
"feel good" myths as Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny. It is most
unbecoming a thinking human being to knowingly provide for the
perpetuation of ignorance. I standby what I stated. May you find
comfort in your ignorance. Have a nice day Charles.

-and you can't see the ignorance of branding the eradication of <br

Do you consider it to be a pathological political ideology. Do most Jews read the Torah and are intimate with its true nature?
Do you find any similarities between the two term Islamophobia and Antisemitism?

What is your opinion on the usage of the term antisemitism? “A club with a nail in it to silence debate.” Just curious if you feel the same about the way this term is used.<br

If one discusses some of the contradictions and inconsistencies with Islam and its contemporary practice, great. However when 1.5 billion people are lumped together implying that they all think and behave alike, then you will find widespread objection. I do agree that these terms racist, Islamophobic, and antisemitic which has been overused ad nauseum are counterproductive and widely misused. In these current times mainstream culture consistently portrays muslims as misogynistic, homophobic, violent, and generally backwards. Does this element exist in Islamic societies? Certainly. However these are not the defining component of the Islamic world and these issues are big problems in western societies as well. I object to the suggestion that any criticism of Islam is quickly silenced with this verbal club as you claim. I have no love for extreme interpretations of any religion, nor do I feel the the body politic and religion should be ever be combined. I am however one of those who will strongly object to any broad generalization of muslims that usually seem to accompany their critique.

I think you are misinterpreting much of the reaction to criticism of Islam. You haven't really addressed the issue at all-why should we as a society be free to restrict the private practice of a particular activity that, in itself, does not affect other people (unless, as you have done, those other people make it their business to be concerned?)

As Q has said, even your concerns are based on extrapolations and speculations. Are we now supposed to legislate what people can and cannot do on the basis of suppositions of this kind?

I'm sorry-but what you suggest is wrong. I have real problems with religion precisely because their adherents want to tell me what I can and cannot believe, and they often want to legislate my actions so that their beliefs become the force of law. You want to do something similar, and while I agree that religion can be, and often is, a pernicious influence, I don't think using the same tactics as those used against me is something I want to do.

its only a public affair because people are concerned about the symbolism of having something that supports a particular organization.
