Right-Wing Extremist Sharron Angle Thinks She’s Future of GOP — Let’s Hope So

Sharron Angle on Sen. Bob Bennett (R-UT):

Senator Bennett has outlived his usefulness. I suppose he’s not mainstream any longer. He has become one of those elitists that is no longer in touch with what the country is really thinking about in these economic times.

In saying “Bennett has outlived his usefulness” Angle obviously wasn’t wishing him harm or death. Nobody is going to believe that, nor should they.

Angle was, however, saying that a guy who DC Republican insiders like and respect represents “yesterday” — and that she represents the future. Given that she has no shot at winning a general but people like her are winning primaries all over the GOP against GOP establishment figures, it should have Republican leadership freaking out.

Even more damning is that Angle is of the misguided view that she’s “mainstream.” Maybe she’s in the mainstream of the GOP, but that says more about how extreme the GOP has become than it does about the electorate as a whole.

Rasmussen today released a poll showing Angle up by a scant 3 points over Sen. Reid. That’s very bad news for Angle. When Rasmussen shows a GOPer up by 3 this far away from the election, you know they don’t have a shot at winning. So while Angle may be putting a fork in Bob Bennett’s political career, it’s pretty clear that the voters of Nevada will be putting a fork in hers.
