Can we afford to put more Republicans in office right now if they're moving even more to the right, which in my mind is fascism with the door closed? Holy shit! What we need are more people in office who are able to resist corporate servitude and reverse the mess we're in. Took 30 years to get us to this point, it won't be changed in 2 years, 4 years or 10. This is a long haul struggle.

“I certainly see a backlash against Democrats as they are in power during this economic meltdown and we may end up with some Republicans winning races that may cause some of us some regret just because we follow the herd and throw those in power out.”

Which certainly leads us to the question of which is the worst of the worst? Marco Rubio is a cute little Cuban man, but his politics are a bit right of Franco's. He scares me. If I were a believing person I would swear he is the Great Beast 666. I'm going to ask his barber.

Gosh, I hope you are right! Marco Rubio is a cute little Cuban man, but his politics are a bit right of Franco's. (Gay people are not terribly popular among the Tea Party crowd.)

Who is popular with the Tea Party crowd? Bigots, old white men, and Palin.

Left out of that timeline is the impact of the movie “Outrage,” which makes the case that Crist, an opponent of same-sex marriage, is a closeted gay man. I've not been active in politics or even very interested in it unless it hits my wallet in some way. You have to have your head buried in the sand to not have heard or read about the tea party movement, which is a good thing in my opinion. It generates interest in politics and issues that effect a good many of us. I for one am not sure if I am a liberal Republican or a conservative Democrat. I have observed one thing in my home state of NJ which my be true nationwide. Many of us vote with our feet and we run from the party in power if we have life changing events during the present administration. Perhaps movements like the tea party are an excellent way to get people to take more of an interest in what is really going on rather than constantly throwing out those in power if things arent going to their liking. I certainly see a backlash against Democrats as they are in power during this economic meltdown and we may end up with some Republicans winning races that may cause some of us some regret just because we follow the herd and throw those in power out.

This article along with others I've read certainly show off Adele's liberal slant but in a way that certainly sets off some heated but very interesting discussion. Because there's no way that Rubio can win over Democrats and moderate independents -- without whom NO Republican can win the general election.

Rubio's problem is being made worse by a growing Hispanic backlash against the Republican Party over the GOP-dominated Arizona government's crackdown on illegal immigrants, which has come under withering attack as biased against Hispanics, who make up a third of Arizona's population.

Republicans in California have been paying a severe political price ever since they pushed through Proposition 187 in 1994, which also cracked down on illegal immigrants, only to be declared unconstitutinoal by the federal courts.

With Hispanics comprising 40 percent of the electorate in California, Prop. 187 produced a tsunami of recrimination against the GOP among Hispanic voters -- and as a result, Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, a moderate who is himself an immigrant from Austria, has been the ONLY Republican to win a statewide election in California.

On top of that, the Democrats hold substantial majorities in both houses of the California legislature and dominate the state's congressional delegation.

The same fate now awaits the Arizona GOP as a result of the passage of SB 1070.

Think this is wishful thinking? Remember that President Obama not only carried Florida, but he captured 40 PERCENT of the Hispanic vote, the highest percentage of any Democrat in that state.

While Republicans dominate northern Florida, Democrats have made significant inroads in southern Florida -- where the bulk of the state's population lives -- and independents now outnumber both Democrats AND Republicans in the Sunshine State.

Remember also that former Rep. Tom Tancredo was the ONLY Republican who refused to take part in a Spanish-language debate in Miami among contenders for the 2008 Republican presidential nomination, insisting that it be conducted in English -- and saw his standing among Cuban-Americans in South Florida crash and burn as a direct result of his snub.

Tancredo is now a prominent Tea Party activist -- and has repeatedly laced his speeches at Tea Party events with viciously anti-Hispanic invectives.

There's no way to tell at this point who will win in November. But given Crist's enormous popularity OUTSIDE the Republican Party, there's no way that Rubio will be the Sunshine State's next U.S. senator.

You can bet the farm on that.

You're dreaming, Joe.
