I am so glad that Bernie Sanders and Dennis Kucinich are trying to give us the public option that we want and need. Most of the people I know are only angry over exsting bills because they left the public option out and eliminated the government right to bargain with pharmaceutical and device manufacturers on our behalf. Some things are too important to rely on the morally bankrupt "free market".

My Congressional and State representative are so out of touch that all they can do is parrot the GOP’s mindless and unethical talking points. isPermaLink="false">http://blogs.alternet.org/speakeasy/?p=3305#comment-5254

Looking into the future, I see that what we obtain from Bernie's courage is a light that shines on Democratic Senators who publicly say they support the public option but who would vote against it when it comes up during reconciliation.Clearly, what these Senators do privately and what they truly believe and stand for remain hidden, at this juncture. Bernie's public option amendment, if it is not undone by a cruel act of the parliamentarian, provides us with the knowledge we need to cast appropriate votes in upcoming primaries and in November.
We will know better that when Senators cast votes, they are taking care of, and protecting, their own interests, which in most cases, have little or nothing to do with the interests of the average American. Many of these so-called democratic senators are millionaires wishing to be billionaires, so their votes are designed to religiously protect and secure the gifts and cash they obtain from insurance and pharmaceutical companies, as well as from the health care industry in general, through the corrupt mechanism known as legal bribery.Bernie's amendment simply creates a much more difficult set of circumstances in which these Senators must attempt to secure their privately agreed-upon corporate benefits because it forces a public vote on an issue widely popular with their constituents. As such, any vote for the public option amendment could very well wipe out hundreds of thousands of dollars, or perhaps millions over time, attained through bribery. This vote pleases most of the Senators' constituents, but simultaneously, makes them targets of the mafias and mercenaries of the insurance and pharmaceutical corporations.Votes against the public option amendment make the culprits targets of vast swaths of the American people, but would most certainly secure corporate benefits. Therefore, any vote (yes or no) cast on the issue of whether a robust public option ought to become a part of the current Senate Bill is likely to prove dangerous. And that is precisely why most democratic senators, including those who are on record as supporters of the public option, will surreptitiously do everything in their power to prevent an up or down vote on the public option amendment, for they are damned if they do and damned if they don't.

Looking into the future, I see that what we obtain from Bernie’s courage is a light that shines on Democratic Senators who publicly say they support the public option but who would vote against it when it comes up during reconciliation.

Clearly, what these Senators do privately and what they truly believe and stand for remain hidden, at this juncture. It may effectively provide enough serious competition in the insurance marketplace to drive down premiums to an affordable level. Folks like us might even be able to afford to buy health insurance if we don't have any, or if we are under-insured, under-employed, self-employed, or unemployed; or getting screwed over royally by the current health insurance industry even if we still hold a good job. Insurance which only provides for the robust and healthy. The insurance companies' business was originally supposed to help people pay for medical bills if they got sick. Now they don't do that anymore. Just try getting sick, especially with cancer, heart disease, or diabetes! You had better pray hard that God will cover you, because the insurers don't care about us. They only care about their bottom line! Either that, or be prepared to pay out of your own pocket like many have to. And with service fees skyrocketing, many are unavailable and of poor quality. You don't dare get sick suddenly. Alan Grayson was right. Under the current system, don't get sick! And if you do, you had better die quickly.I support single payer. I have read comment after positive comment from people living in Europe who have socialized medicine and are happy with it. Why is it they have it and we don't? Could it be we are so brainwashed to hate labels like "socialism" that we have forgotten to look up in a neutral dictionary what it really means? What is wikipedia for? Socialism ain't all that bad! It sure beats anarchy, Plutocracy, or Corporatism, which is what we have now. That is government of the rich/Corporate, by the rich/Corporate, and for the rich/Corporate. Anarchy is more like what they have had in Haiti, but it seems to be what the Tea-Party wants: NO Government.Jesus gave away his healing services. GAVE FREELY! Health is a right, not a privilege. Life is what God has given us. It is a right, not a privilege! If Jesus were here today and saw what we are doing, he would overturn the moneychanger's tables again, this time at the insurance companies! Why are we so afraid to follow him?

Let’s dispense with the labels and look at what the public option could do. Not even any comments on the an issue that has dominated the headlines "the public option" for over a year? I really have to wonder why...is it because a socialist is actually trying to give the people what they are in favor of. I mean really, why is no one commenting on this post?

Let’s see no screams of socialism here?
