COMMENT NOW! Crazy Ole’ Fred Thompson Makes a Funny; Journo Calls it “News”
Remember Fred Thompson? The grouchy old recluse down the street who used to emerge from time to time to rant about dirty hippies smoking LSD or appear in an episode of Law and Order before being restrained by his nurses?
Well, he saw a middling joke about Barack Obama in The Onion that made him wet his Depends a little bit, and decided to tweet it.
Then Jimmy Orr, online editor of the Christian Science Monitor (he used to be George W.’s Internet Director, which explains a lot), thought Grandpa Crazy-Pants’ quip was so funny that he wrote a column about it. I shit you not.
[Obama's] doing everything right [for the Superbowl]. He’s watching the game. He’s hosting a Super Bowl party. And if last year is any indication, the game will take precedence over everything else — including the commercials.
Doesn’t make any difference to former senator and presidential candidate Fred Thompson though. He’s using the Super Bowl to take a jab at the First Fan.
Earlier today, Thompson took to Twitter to needle him.
“CBS to interview Obama in SuperBowl pre-game,” Thompson tweeted. “Ironic. If Obama had his way, Colts & Saints would negotiate 4 Lombardi Trophy.”
Like Thompson or not, that’s a pretty good line.
There’s your modern journalism: old winger lobbyist who’s been out of office for 7 years tweets a lame Onion joke, news at 11.
