Pigs confined in metal and concrete pensGrant Lawrence–Bodhi Thunder

Killer antibiotic-resistant infections are being created in an almost perfect environment, the factory farm.

Food animals kept in cramped, miserable, intolerable, inhumane conditions pumped up with antibiotics help develop these antibiotic-resistant infections. The pathogens develop a resistance to the millions of pounds of anti-biotics used on the animals. Then the pathogens are passed through the food chain to humans, sickening killing humans.

The antibiotics are needed to keep the animals alive for a short duration because of the unhealthy and horrible conditions created on the factory farms. But as is always the case, you can’t abuse living beings without paying severe consequences, physically, mentally, and spiritually.  Or as they say, “What goes around comes around.”

In this case, what is going around are killer anti-biotic resistant pathogens created on factory farms and passed on to humans.

…A new story in Mother Jones magazine by Tom Philpott focuses on a document he says the USDA does not want any of us to see: a technical review of “recent academic findings on the growing problem of antibiotic-resistant infections and their link with factory animal farms. The topic is a serious one. A single antibiotic-resistant pathogen, MRSA—just one of many now circulating among Americans—now claims more lives each year than AIDS.”…

Tom Phipott says:

You see, keeping animals alive and growing fast under cramped, unsanitary conditions is tricky business. One of the industry’s tried-and-true tactics is low-level, daily doses of antibiotics. The practice helps keep infections down, at least in the short term, and, for reasons no one really understands, it pushes animals to fatten to slaughter weight faster.

Altogether, the US meat industry uses 29 million pounds of antibiotics every year.

To put that number in perspective, consider that we humans in the United States—in all of our prescription fill-ups and hospital stays combined—use just over 7 million pounds per year. Thus the vast bulk of antibiotics consumed in this country, some 80 percent, goes to factory animal farms.”…sky valley chronicle

Jesus with children, early 1900s Bible illustr...

Grant Lawrence–Bodhi Thunder
Are we to imagine that a person that gave his life for humanity would not give his presence to a movement that seeks to feed, clothe, house, and empower 99% of humanity?

There is some debate on whether Jesus was a real person or how much of what is attributed to him in the Bible is real.

But I am more concerned with the principles attributed to Jesus than to the debate about his person.

According to the Bible, Jesus confronted the power structure of his day by his teachings. It is written that he taught that we should treat others the way we wanted to be treated. That we should “turn the other cheek” when confronted with violence. That spirituality is more important than money. That the “money changers” (bankers of his day) were “thieves” and had no place in his “father’s house.”

Indeed lending money at interest was looked down upon in the Bible.

…If you lend money to my people, to the poor among you, you shall not deal with them as a creditor; you shall not exact interest from them. 26If you take your neighbour’s cloak in pawn, you shall restore it before the sun goes down; 27for it may be your neighbour’s only clothing to use as cover; in what else shall that person sleep? And if your neighbour cries out to me, I will listen, for I am compassionate….exodus 25

….”There is one bit of advice given to us by the ancient heathen Greeks, and by the Jews in the Old Testament, and by the great Christian teachers of the Middle Ages, which the modern economic system has completely disobeyed. All these people told us not to lend money at interest….I should not have been honest with you had I not told you that three great civilizations had agreed (or so it seems at first sight) in condemning the very thing on which we have based our whole life.”…c.s lewis (source: kansas free press)

….Charging interest is classed in the Book of Ezekiel as being among the worst sins[3], and is forbidden according to Jewish law. The Talmud dwells particularly on Ezekiel’s condemnation of interest[4], where Ezekiel denounces it as an abomination, and metaphorically portrays usurers as people who have shed blood….wikipedia

According to the Bible, Jesus loved the poor and those those that society scorns. He spent most of his time with these people. Also, he could have used force against the Elite Power Structure of his day but instead gave his life.

Are we to imagine that a person that gave his life for humanity would not give his presence to a movement that seeks to feed, clothe, house, and empower 99% of humanity?

Yes, Jesus would have “Occupied Wall Street.” Indeed that would have been his base of operations. He would have been with the people and he would have condemned the “money changers” and the Elites of this day in the same way he condemned the Elites of his day.

He might also have been struck over the head, like former Marine Scott Olsen, for standing up for these humane principles. It might be that he would have to give his life again so that people might some day learn to have respect and compassion for all life.

Many are now making the argument that an Oakland Police officer, perhaps under orders, intentionally hit Scott Olsen in the head. Olsen is the brave former marine that got his skull cracked open in an “Occupy Oakland” protest standing up for the First Amendment and the American people against the Bankster Elite.

Even if Olsen was not intentionally hit in the head, he was intentionally teargassed and flashbanged while lying, bloody and unconscious.

If you see the video here, you can easily see the Oakland Police knowingly used weaponry on an unconscious man and the protesters trying to assist him.

Karl Denninger argues that the police intended to hit Olsen in the head:

One ex-Marine — a combat veteran — took a rubber round in the head. He is in critical condition and may die. That was not a mistake; that was aimed fire and an intentional assassination. Sorry folks, that’s facts – from 50′ you don’t “miss” and hit someone in the head with these things if you’re shooting for the legs or other non-vital parts. He was shot in the head by someone who aimed for the head. Those projectiles arenot “non-lethal” and the bomb thrown by a cop at the people trying to come to his assistance after he fell wasn’t tossed accidentally either.

A marine says that Oakland used crowd control methods that are prohibited in war zones, and that the shot must have been intentional:

Before gas goes into a crowd shield bearers have to be making no progress moving a crowd or crowd must be assaulting the line. Not with sticks and stones but a no bullshit assault. 3 warnings must be given to the crowd in a manner they can hear that force is about to be used. Shield bearers take a knee and CS gas is released in grenade form first to fog out your lines because you have gas masks. You then kick the canisters along in front of your lines. Projectile gas is not used except for longer ranged engagement or trying to steer the crowd ( by steering a crowd I mean firing gas to block a street off ). You also have shotguns with beanbags and various less than lethal rounds for your launchers. These are the rules for a WARZONE!!
How did a cop who is supposed to have training on his weapon system accidentally SHOOT someone in the head with a 40mm gas canister? Simple. He was aiming at him.the daily bail

A still of 2004 Osama bin Laden video

Image via Wikipedia

Grant Lawrence–Bodhi Thunder

You probably have seen the graphic pics of Colonel Gaddafi’s capture and killing. These pics and videos are all over the web. The US government congratulates the rebels for the capture and killing of the former Libyan leader. They don’t seem to be concerned about upsetting Muslim sensibilities.

The pics, videos, and the parading of the body are meant as proof to show that Gaddafi is indeed dead. This seems reasonable. People demand proof when a leader is killed.

But what’s wrong with this picture.

Osama Bin Laden as you may recall, was supposedly killed  in Pakistan. However the same US government that couldn’t show those pics of a dead Bin Laden gleefully rejoice over the brutal killing of Gaddafi.

The US said they wouldn’t release pictures or videos of Bin Laden so as not to make some Muslims upset.   But they don’t seem to be concerned about making some Muslims upset over the disgraceful treatment of Gaddafi’s body.

The reason the US said it had to bury the Bin Laden body at sea was so that it was in accordance with Islamic law. But the Islamic law dictate of a burial at sea was later exposed as a creation of US propagandists.

So here we have plenty of pics of a captured and murdered Gaddafi and nobody mentions the problem of Muslim sensibilities. The proof of Gaddafi’s killing is evidently seen as more important. But with the supposed killing of the number one terrorist in the world, the people evidently didn’t need proof of Bin Laden’s death.

So we will not likely be getting those pics of Bin Laden’s death, unless they have been put together by the CIA. There is also little likelihood the Gaddafi body will be buried at sea.

A CNN report says that a Tokyo neighborhood was measured with higher levels of radiation than areas found around Fukushima. The mayor was shocked.

Later the mayor came out with a cover story that the radiation was coming from bottles in somebody’s basement.

I guess Officials think the people will believe anything. Unfortunately, Officials know the people.

For some reason, which I never can figure out, people trust Officials that have clearly been lying over and over. I guess they would rather feel good than know the truth.

….Radiation levels were higher in Tokyo’s Setagaya ward than in the evacuation area around the badly damaged Fukushima Daiichi nuclear plant, according to ward Mayor Nobuto Hosaka.

“We are shocked to see such high radiation level was detected in our neighborhood. We cannot leave it as is,” Hosaka told reporters….cnn

San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station

A series of speakers warned that a nuclear type disaster could happen at southern California’s San Onofre Nuclear Power Plant.

Nuclear Expert Arnie Gunderson told elected officials and an audience of 200 that the Fukushima Nuke Disaster in Japan will give the people of that country one million more cancers to deal with over the next 20 years.

…Dr. Helen Caldicott, a Nobel Peace Prize nominee and co-founder of Physicians for Social Responsibility, said via a live video feed that “it was gross malfeasance” to build two nuclear reactors next to an earthquake fault. She said that in a worst-case nuclear plant scenario – which she sees as possible at San Onofre – 10 million people could be at risk in a nuclear release, depending on the wind direction.

She said that the Rasmussen report (1970s), updated by the Union of Concerned Scientists, stated that 3,300 people could die within several days, and 10,000 to 100,000 could develop acute radiation sickness within weeks. Hypothyroidism could afflict 250,000 people and 350,000 males could go temporarily sterile, and there could be 3,000 spontaneous abortions. Over the years, she said 250,000 could develop cancers.

“You’re sitting next to a cancer factory,” Dr. Caldicott said. “You are running a cancer factory that generates electricity.”….oc register

An anti Barack Hussein Obama protest (15/10/2009)

Image via Wikipedia

Grant Lawrence–Bodhi Thunder

Economic collapse is not good for a person’s health. Numerous studies show that economic hardships and the accompanying stress lead to all types of physical and mental health problems. So unless you are part of the Elite Billionaires that are assured their wealth by corporate welfare and government bailouts, depressions sicken and kill.

Well known psychiatrist and author Dr. Gabor Mate’ was recently at the “Occupy Wall Street” protests. He says that unlike the economic collapse which is making people sick, the protests are likely relieving stress and contributing to better health because the people are given a means of expression and some measure of control.

So the good doctor’s health recommendations should be taken seriously.

The Prescription: Get out and protest for your physical and mental health.

…Well, you know, among the many inequities in a society are the ones that this protest has brought to light, the inequitable distribution of wealth and power. But what is not so generally realized, that this society also makes people sick. Fifty percent of American adults have a chronic medical illness, and much of that has to do with stress. And if you look at the literature on what causes stress, it’s uncertainty and lack of information and loss of control and lack of expression of self. And the uncertainty that has been forced upon the American population by the recent economic crisis, the loss of control as power has flown into the hands of very, very few people, and the absolute powerlessness of the many in the face of all that, and the lack of expression through the ordinary political process, people are totally disempowered and deprived of their voice. This protest addresses all those issues. So I can only say that this is an extraordinarily healthy thing to happen. People who participate here will be healthier for it as a result, and maybe society, in general, as well.

And one more thing, as well. There was a study just this morning that parents who are stressed, they’re not as tuned in to their kids. They’re not as connected to their kids. So when society stresses people, like the current economic uncertainty and crisis does, children are not getting what they need. So this protest, as well, speaks to the needs of children as much as to the needs of adults in general. So that’s why I’m so gratified to see all this….democracy now
